The Malta Journalism Awards Commission within the Institute for Maltese Journalists (IĠM), is currently in the final stages of the work related to the 30th Edition of the awards night that are aimed at celebrating the best journalist work on the island. This edition will be awarding the work published during 2019, registering a record of 171 submissions. Despite the challenges in place due to current COVID-19 pandemic,the Commission will still be organising the final ceremony, whereby all applicants have been invited amongst the limited number of guests invited, in line with the health authorities instructions and regulations. This year’s edition will be held on Saturday 14th November 2020, at the Corinthia Saint George’s Bay, St Julian’s. It-Tenpin Bowler żagħżugħ Kayden Lagana ġie magħżul bħala r-rebbieħ tal-unur tal-Atlas Żagħżugħ tax-Xahar għal Settembru. Lagana tul dan ix-xahar sar l-iżgħar Tenpin bowler f'Malta li rreġistrat l-ogħla punteġġ fl-ogħla diviżjoni f'kompetizzjoni Nazzjonali tal-MTBA. Punteġġ ta' series ta' 'l fuq min 600 hija xi ħaġa li kull Tenpin bowler jaspira li jagħmel u Lagana irnexxielu jisboq dan it-tragward b'6 series 'il fuq minn 600. Filfatt fil-kompetizzjoni Doubles League hu rnexxielu jikseb il-punteġġ ta' 680 u kiser ir-rekord ta' punteġġ tiegħu stess permezz ta' pin waħda, rekord li kien għamel ix-xahar ta' qabel. Issa Lagana kiser il-rekord tal-kull kategorija tal-Youths sa 18 -il sena b'series ta' iktar minn 675. Dan hu riżultat impressjonanti għal Lagana li għad għandu biss 12 -il sena. Riżultat prestiġjuż ieħor għal Lagana matul Settembru kien fis-17 tax-xahar meta b'series ta' 637 għamel perjodu ta' ġimgħa bħala l-plejer bl-ogħla punteġġ fl-ewwel diviżjoni u kien qed jissupera fil-klassifika lit-Tenpin bowlers [...]

Young Tenpin bowler Kayden Lagana has been named as the winner of the September 2020 Atlas Youth Athlete of the month award. During the period of evaluation Lagana registered impressive results at the MTBA National League (4 men team) as well as the Doubles' League. Kayden Lagana’s first tangible achievement was when he became the youngest Maltese player to bowl in the highest division of the MTBA National League. A 600+ series is an aim for all Tenpin bowlers and such a score was registered by Lagana when he managed to bowl an amazing 6 series over the 600.   His greatest achievement was when he rolled a 680 in the Doubles League, exceeding his personal best which he had bowled in August by 1 pin, and therefore placing himself in the Youth records up to 18 years for series over 675.   Kayden Lagana has in fact become the youngest ever [...]

A record of 171 submissions have been registered for the 30th Edition of the Malta Journalism Awards, which will be held in a month’s time. All main media houses in Malta are represented in these awards. The Human Interest Story of the Year category tops the chart with the largest number of submissions – 31. Other categories with a substantial amount of submissions include Photography – Open: 16; Audiovisual News/Current Affairs: 13, Photography News/Current Affairs:13; Specialised News: 13; Feature:13; Investigation of the Year: 10. Three or more submissions were registered in all 16 categories that were open for nominations, as a change in the regulations following a consultation process resulted in a record number of submissions.
