Following the resignation en bloc of the Executive Committee of the Malta Sports Journalists Association (GħĠS) at the Annual General Meeting held on Tuesday, 27 October 2026, members present entrusted Honorary President Mr Charles Camenzuli with overseeing the next steps.
A very informative session about Photo Journalism thanks to Timmy Cutugno with the National Sports Students Year 10. Timmy discussed topics such; a) What intellectual property means in sports media. b) Why photographers own the rights to their images. c) How to respectfully approach photographers. d) The difference between fair use and purchasing images. e)How proper credit and collaboration benefits both athletes and media professionals. More educational initiatives will be organised by the MSJA.

The encounter brought the curtain down on a busy two-day programme of international football at St James’ Park, which saw Newcastle United’s men’s and women’s teams face European opposition as part of their preparations for the new season. Newcastle United Women and Inter Women faced each other at St James’ Park on Sunday as part of the Visit Malta Weekender 2026, in an international friendly that also carried a special Maltese connection through Malta international Haley Bugeja, who featured for the Italian side. Playing at the iconic home of Newcastle United, both teams looked to make the most of the pre-season encounter, with Inter making the breakthrough in the 25th minute through Marie Detruyer, who opened the scoring for the Nerazzurre. In the 86th minute, Inter doubled their advantage through elisa Polli, who found the back of the net to make it 2-0 and put the Italian side firmly in control in the closing stages at St James’ Park.
