Atlas Insurance teams up with the Malta Sports Journalists Association to award young sports achievers

Atlas Insurance, one of Malta’s leading insurance firms, has teamed up with the Malta Sports Journalists Association (MSJA), known also as the Għaqda Ġurnalisti Sports, to launch the ‘The Atlas Youth Athlete of the Month’ award. The aims of this monthly award are varied. First and foremost, the award is intended for those athletes up to the age of 21 who have distinguished themselves in sports achievements both in terms of sporting results in Malta or abroad, as well as adherence to the sporting values. Sports disciplines associated with this award can be varied, and all sports – both individual and team-based will be considered for this award. With less than one month left to the celebration of world's sport media excellence, AIPS is proud to announce the names of the top ten journalists who competed in the two Photography category of the AIPS Sport Media Awards: Portfolio and Sport Action. The chosen journalists passed a strict selection and will be the roster of the potential finalists, expecting the three names will be unveiled on January 15, 2020. Fit-22 ta’ Frar SportMalta u l-Għaqda Ġurnalisti Sports se jkunu qed jorganizzaw flimkien edizzjoni oħra tal-Isportivi Nazzjonali. L-edizzjoni ta’ din is-sena se tkun waħda speċjali hekk kif se tkun is-60 edizzjoni mill-ewwel edizzjoni imnhedija mill-mibki ġurnalist tal-isport Benny Pace li kien organizza fuq bażi individwali  permezz tal-ġurnal The Sporting Star bl-ewwel edizzjoni tal-Isportiv tas-Sena tkun  dik tal-1960. Dakinhar ir-rebbieħ kien Wilfred Pirotta li kien jipprattika l-isport tal-ispearfishing (sajd taħt wiċċ il-baħar bin-nifs). Benny Pace baqa’ jorganizza b’suċċess dan il-konkors li kellu format ferm differenti min kif nafuh illum sal-edizzjoni tal-1977 fejn fl-aħħar seba’ snin bejn l-1970 u l-1977 kienu jsiru żewġ għażliet fi żmien ġimgħa. Dan seħħ wara li fl-1970 saret l-ewwel edizzjoni tal-Għaqda Kittieba Sports. Fl-ewwel erba’ edizzjonijiet (1960,1961, 1962 u 1963) Pace kien jippremja biss lill-Isportiv tas-sena u kien biss fil-ħames edizzjoni tal-1964 li introduċa l-unur tal-iSportiva tas-sena dakinhar mirbuħ minn Joan Galea Naudi li kienet ġejja mid-dixxiplina [...]

Maltese Photographer praised as he saves the life of a football player

The Malta Sports Journalists Association wholeheartedly thanks its member, Photographer Walter Sargent and praises his heroic intervention when together with the nurse on duty he acted instantly and gave the first crucial medical assistance through an AED to St Venera Lightnings Maltese player and Club captain Yau-Mun Law who suffered a hearth failure during the first half of the BOV 3rd Division match vs Kirkop Utd on Thursday evening at the Centenary Stadium in Ta’ Qali, Malta. The sport media joins Sta Venera Lightnings FC and the general public in thanking Mr Sargent for his brave action. The Malta Sports Journalists Association wishes a speedy recovery to the player concerned who is still in intensive care and joins the maltese football community in its effort in putting more pressure on the Malta Football Association to secure that in the near future at least one ambulance or a doctor is present [...]
