The IĠM has received a complaint from four sports journalists concerning the recent behaviour of the president of the Malta Football Association regarding a report on the association’s volunteer programme for sports photographers. The IĠM and MSJA have seen the right of reply by the MFA, in English and in Maltese, to the news outlet Malta Sport as well as a letter sent to AiMS Chairman Antonio Mizzi complaining about the behaviour of two of its employees and a private text message sent by MFA President Bjorn Vassallo to one of the complainants. While any entity is free to publish a right of reply to correct any mistakes in reporting, a right of reply is not a space to attack or bully journalists. It-tim tal-volleyball ta’ taħt il-15-il sena ta’ Swieqi Phoenix rebaħ il-kampjonat f’din il-kategorija għall-għaxar sena konsekuttiva u żamm ir-rekord fejn ma tilfux logħba tul dawn l-aħħar għaxar snin. Min-naħa l-oħra il-ġinnasta Sophie St John li għandha 14-il sena u li kienet waħda mill-iżgħar atleti f’Team Malta waqt il-Logħob tal-Pajjiżi Żgħar tal-Ewropa li saru f’Andorra, kellha wirjiet brillanti u kisbet tliet midalji tad-deheb, midalja tal-fidda u oħra tal-bronż. Swieqi Phoenix Volleyball U15 Team and Sophie St John (Gymnastics) are the winners of May’s Atlas Youth Athletes of the Month Award. Swieqi Phoenix Volleyball U15 Team clinched their 10th consecutive title, maintaining an incredible unbeaten record over the past ten years. Meanwhile, 14-year-old Sophie St John, one of the youngest members of Team Malta at this year’s Games of the Small States of Europe (GSSE) held in Andorra, delivered an outstanding performance, winning 3 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze medal in artistic gymnastics. She triumphed in the Women’s Vault, the Women’s Balance Beam, and the Women’s Team event. She also earned silver in the Women’s All-Around and bronze in the Floor Exercise. The Atlas Youth Athlete of the Month Award was presented to the winners by Matthew von Brockdorff, Managing Director and CEO of Atlas Insurance. Team Gaudos magħmul mill-Għawdxin Stephen Grima u Brandon Sultana sar l-ewwel tim minn Malta li temm l-Absa Cape Epic li saret fl-Afrika t’Isfel, f’Marzu li għadda. Team Gaudos spiċċa fil-266 post overall minn 743 tim parteċipant. Grima u Sultana għamluha f’ħin totali ta’ 38 siegħa, 7 minuti u 10 seckondi. Din it-tiġrija iebsa bil-mountain bikes mifruxa fuq tmint ijiem, fuq distanza ta’ 600 kilometru u b’elevazzjoni ta’ 16,500 metru. Il-parteċipanti raw ma’ wiċċhom kundizzjonijiet klimatiċi estremi bħal temperaturi ta’ 51°C flimkien ma’ xita torrenzjali, riħ qawwi u toroq mimlijin bit-tajn.
