Kim Camilleri Lagana wins the first Atlas Youth Athlete of the Month Award for 2023

Kim Camilleri Lagana has been awarded the Atlas Youth Athlete of the Month Award for the month of JanuaryCamilleri Lagana won this monthly award for the very first time after being named European Under-15 Champion in 2022, and in January 2023 she successfully qualified for the upcoming Youth World Championships. At just 14 years of age, the young weightlifter managing a whopping 124kg total in the 45kg category. Kim managed all three snatch attempts at 51kg, 53kg and 54kg followed by another successful first two clean and jerk attempts at 68kg and 70kg. She was unfortunately unsuccessful on her third attempt after attempting a new national record in the clean and jerk for this weight class at 71 kg. Tħabbru l-finalisti tal-edizzjoni ta’ din is-sena ta’ SportMalta Awards L-Għażliet Sportivi Nazzjonali li se jirrikonoxxu l-kisbiet sportivi tas-sena 2022. Il-ġurnalisti membri tal-Għaqda Ġurnalisti Sport li vvutaw kienu jammontaw għal 59 sabiex issa tħabbru s-sitt finalisti għal kull kategorija. Waqt is-serata se jingħataw ukoll żewġ rikonoxximenti għall-aħjar żewġ atleti ta’ Special Olympics Malta u l-unur tal-Attività Internazzjonali tas-Sena, b’dan tal-aħħar fuq l-għażla tal-Kumitat Eżekuttiv tal-Għaqda Ġurnalisti Sports. Jingħata wkoll il-People’s Choice Award, bis-sehem tal-pubbliku ġenerali. The finalists of the 63rd edition of the SportMalta Awards Għażliet Sportivi Nazzjonali announced

The finalists of this year’s Sport Malta Awards Għażliet Sportivi Nazzjonali were announced. This event is aimed to acknowledge the sporting achievements acquired during the year 2022. A total of 59 journalists who are members of the Malta Sports Journalists Association had to cast their vote for the six finalists in each category. SportMalta Awards will also acknowledge the best two athletes of Special Olympics Malta and the Best Initiative for the Organization of an International Event in Malta, with the latter chosen by the Executive Committee of the Malta Sports Journalists Association. The public can also participate in the People’s Choice Award. Dillon Cassar receives the fourth TGS Malta Fair Play Award for the year 2022

The Malta Fair Play Movement has announced the eighth TGS Malta Fair Play Award, in collaboration with Malta Sports Journalists Association and Together Gaming Solutions. The adjudicating panel is formed by Charles Camenzuli, Adele Muscat, Pierre Cassar, Kevin Joseph Azzopardi and Sandro Micallef. This award is aimed at sporting individuals or teams who would have distinguished themselves with an altruistic gesture of fair play during official and/or non-official competitions. The fourth award for the year 2022, covering the October – December period, was awarded to Dillon Cassar. During a 10k race which consisted of 2 loops, unfortunately one of the marshals during the race was misplaced. This race was held on Sunday 16th October 2022.
