Francesca Curmi and Sasha Gatt were presented with their Atlas Youth Athlete of the Month awards

Tennis player Francesca Curmi and swimmer Sasha Gatt were presented with their respective Atlas Youth Athlete of the Month awards, following their international sporting commitments. Nineteen-year-old Francesca Curmi had been declared the winner of the Atlas Youth Athlete of the Month for the month of February. This was mainly due to her stellar performance during the ITF Tournament held in Monastir, Tunisia, when, against all odds and facing better seeded opponents, she achieved six straight victories to reach the final played on Sunday 28th February. Francesca became the first ever Maltese tennis player to reach the final of a ‘Futures’ event. Unfortunately, she was beaten by her Polish opponent in the final. Sixteen-year-old Sasha Gatt was chosen as the winner of the June award following her outstanding results in the 400m freestyle, where she stopped the clock at 4:18.58, over five seconds faster than the 4:23.33 mark she established in February. Jeremy Zammit rebbieħ tal-Atlas Atleta Żagħżugħ tax-Xahar għal Lulju

L-Atleta ta' Pembroke Athleta, Jeremy Zammit, ingħata l-unur tal-Atlas Atleta Żagħżugħ tax-Xahar għal Lulju. Zammit diġa’ rebaħ l-unur f’April wara li kien kiseb il-midalja tad-deheb fil-kategorija ta' taħt it-18-il sena fit-tielet edizzjoni tal-EAP International Meeting li sar f'Katanja. Fix-xahar ta’ Lulju Jeremy Zammit kompla jikteb ismu fl-istorja meta għamel qabża tajba ta’ 7.58 metri u sar l-ewwel Malti li għadda għall-finali tal-Kampjonati Ewropej tal-long jump li saru f’Talinn l-Estonja. Huwa spiċċa fil-ħames post fil-finali, meta għamel qabża ta’ 7.62 metri li huwa wkoll rekord nazzjonali ġdid. Din il-qabża kienet tliet ċentimetri biss anqas mir-rekord dinji miksub fl-kategorija ta’ taħt it-18-il sena. Jeremy Zammit won the Atlas Youth Athlete of the Month award for July

Pembroke Athleta's up-and-coming track and field athlete Jeremy Zammit has been awarded the Atlas Youth Athlete of the month Award for July. Zammit has already won April’s Award after securing the U-18 category gold medal at the third edition of the EAP International meeting which was held in Catania. ​ In July, Jeremy Zammit continued to rewrite the history books at the European U-20 Championships in Tallinn when the young athlete placed fifth in the long jump final. Zammit, who had set a new national record with a leap of 7.58 metres, further improved on his best by posting a leap of 7.62 metres. His effort was also the second-best jump in the world in the U-18 category, just three centimetres away from the world-leading jump of 7.65 metres. Antonio Flores presented with the second TGS Malta Fair Play Award

The Malta Fair Play Movement announced the second TGS Malta Fair Play Award in conjunction with the Malta Sports Journalists Association and sponsored by Together Gaming Solutions. Local Paralympic athlete Antonio Flores has been awarded this second award covering the April-June 2021 period. After years of intensive training, Antonio Flores was bound to be part of the athletes' contingent for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. It resulted that he had suffered an injury, which if not recovered in time, would mean that the place for athletics would remain vacant with no Malta participation. However, in view of the situation, Antonio Flores took the tough decision to forfeit his Tokyo 2020 participation, in order that another athlete could be registered in time.
