Tenishia Thornton tirbaħ l-Atlas Atleta Żagħżugħa tax-Xahar għal Ġunju

Tenishia Thornton ingħatat l-unur tal-Atlas Atleta Żagħżugħa tax-Xahar għal Ġunju. Il-weightlifter Maltija ta’ 16-il sena, irnexxilha tirbaħ tliet midalji tad-deheb u spiċċat fl-ewwel post ġenerali fil-kategorija tal-55kg tal-Kampjonati Dinjija taż-Żgħażagħ IWF li saru f’Leon, il-Messiku. Thornton kienet qed tieħu sehem fil-kategorija tal-55 kilogramma fejn irnexxilha terfa’ 78 kilò fis-snatch, 100 kilò fil-clean & jerk għal total ta’ 178 kilò u kisbet rekord ġdid fil-Commonwealth u ieħor nazzjonali. B’kollox f’din il-kategorija ħadu sehem 17-il atleta minn 13-il pajjiż differenti fosthom l-Eġittu, il-Messiku, l-Awstralja, il-Kanada, il-Kroazja, l-Ekwador, l-Istati Uniti, l-Italja, it-Tuneżija, it-Turkija, l-Indja, New Zealand u Malta. Tenishia Thornton kienet akkumpanjata mill-kowċ tagħha, Jesmond Caruana, li huwa wkoll il-President tal-Malta Weightlifting Association (MWA). It-trofew tal-Atlas Atleta Żagħżugħa tax-Xahar għal Ġunju 2022 kif ukoll il-vawċer ta’ abbiljament sportiv abbinat ma’ dan il-premju ġew ippreżentati lil Tenishia Thornton minn Matthew von Brockdorff Direttur Maniġerjali u Kap Eżekuttvi ta’ Atlas Insurance. Tenishia Thornton wins the Atlas Youth Athlete of the Month Award for June

Tenishia Thornton has been awarded the Atlas Youth Athlete of the Month Award for the month of June. Tenishia Thornton, at the age of 16, bagged an astonishing three gold medals and the title of world youth champion at the World Youth Championships held in Leon, Mexico. Competing in the women’s 55kg class, the young Maltese lifter stunned the field with a successful 78kg lift snatch, a successful 100kg lift in the clean and jerk, and a total of 178kg to set a new Commonwealth and national record. This category was made up of 17 athletes from 13 different countries, including Egypt, Mexico, Australia, Canada, Croatia, Ecuador, United States, Italy, Tunisia, Turkiye, India, New Zealand, and Malta. Tenishia Thornton was accompanied by her coach, Jesmond Caruana, who is also the President of the Malta Weightlifting Association (MWA). Special Olympics Malta jirċievu t-tieni TGS Malta Fair Play Award għas-sena 2022

Il-Malta Fair Play Movement ħabbar is-sitt TGS Malta Fair Play Award, b’kolaborazzjoni mal-Għaqda Ġurnalisti Sports u Together Gaming Solutions. Il-panel li jiġġudika dan il-premju huwa magħmul minn Charles Camenzuli, Adele Muscat, Pierre Cassar, Kevin Joseph Azzopardi and Sandro Micallef. Dan il-premju huwa intiż għal dawk fil-qasam tal-isport kemm fuq livell individwali jew bħala tim għal mod altruwistiku f’kompetizzjoni/ijiet uffiċjali jew le. It-tieni unur għas-sena 2022, li jkopri l-perjodu bejn April u Ġunju ngħata lil Special Olympics Malta. Il-kontinġent Malti, magħmul minn aktar minn 400 atleta f’sitt dixxiplini differenti, ħa sehem fl-iSpecial Olympics Invitational Games li saru f’Malta, b’total impressjonanti ta’ 65 midalja tad-deheb, 60 fidda and 67 bronz. Aparti mill-impenn tal-atleti, kienet tinħass evidenti l-atmosfera ta’ ħbiberija u fair play bl-inklusività mal-atleti l-oħra li kienu ġejjin minn 23 pajjiż differenti, waqt il-logħbiet kollha. Special Olympics Malta receives the second TGS Malta Fair Play Award for the year 2022

The Malta Fair Play Movement’ has announced the sixth TGS Malta Fair Play Award, in collaboration with Malta Sports Journalists Association and Together Gaming Solutions. The adjudicating panel is formed by Charles Camenzuli, Adele Muscat, Pierre Cassar, Kevin Joseph Azzopardi and Sandro Micallef. This award is aimed at sporting individuals or teams who would have distinguished themselves with an altruistic gesture of fair play during official and/or non-official competitions. The second award for this year 2022, covering the April–June period, was given to Special Olympics Malta. The Maltese contingent, formed by over 400 athletes in six different disciplines, participated in the Special Olympics Invitational Games held in Malta, with an impressive tally of 65 gold, 60 silver and 67 bronze medals.
