Atlas Insurance has extended its partnership with the Malta Sports Journalists Association for the Atlas Youth Athlete of the Month Awards, committing to another year of celebrating young Maltese athletes. Since its inception in January 2020, this initiative has grown into a prominent fixture in the local sports scene and is further enhanced by the Atlas Youth Athlete of the Year Award. To date, the program has celebrated athletic excellence with 72 awards spanning 27 different sports. The initiative has recognised 61 individual athletes and 11 teams, and has bestowed 5 annual awards, underscoring its comprehensive reach and impact across a wide array of sporting disciplines. Moments of tension were followed by signs of relief, joy and appreciation by several local sports athletes and officials on Monday evening as the 5 finalists of the main categories of the 65th edition of Għażliet Sportivi Nazzjonali were announced. The announcement of the finalists was made at the Malta Football Association’s Centenary Hall, in which all semi-finalists were also presented a commemorative certificate. The ceremony which was streamed live on TVM Sport+ as well as social media was addressed by Clinton Buhagiar and Lorraine Cunningham, President and General Secretary respectively of the Malta Sports Journalists Association (MSJA). Matthew Zammit (Table Tennis) u Thea Parnis Coleiro (Atletika) huma r-rebbieħa tal-Atlas Atleti Żgħażagħ tax-Xahar ta’ Jannar. Matthew Zammit, li għandu 14-il sena, rebaħ ir-ranking tournament ta’ taħt id-19-il sena organizzat mill-Malta Table Tennis Association, wara li fil-finali għeleb lil Luke Bonello 3-1. Din il-finali kienet waħda ferm missielta, hekk kif iż-żewġ plejers żgħażagħ kienu f’forma mill-aqwa. Zammit wasal fil-finali wara li għeleb lil Vladislav Lyksuh 3-1, lil Luke Fenech 3-2 u lil Gabriele Bianco 3-0. Min-naħa l-oħra, Thea Parnis Coleiro li għandha 16-il sena, ħadet sehem fil-kategoria ta’ taħt l-20 sena waqt il-London Indoor Games.
