Atlas Insurance teams up with the Malta Sports Journalists Association to award young sports achievers
Atlas Insurance, one of Malta’s leading insurance firms, has teamed up with the Malta Sports Journalists Association (MSJA), known also as the Għaqda Ġurnalisti Sports, to launch the ‘The Atlas Youth Athlete of the Month’ award. The aims of this monthly award are varied. First and foremost, the award is intended for those athletes up to the age of 21 who have distinguished themselves in sports achievements both in terms of sporting results in Malta or abroad, as well as adherence to the sporting values. Sports disciplines associated with this award can be varied, and all sports – both individual and team-based will be considered for this award. Maltese Photographer Domenic Aquilina made it in top 10 Photographers in AIPS Media Awards
With less than one month left to the celebration of world's sport media excellence, AIPS is proud to announce the names of the top ten journalists who competed in the two Photography category of the AIPS Sport Media Awards: Portfolio and Sport Action. The chosen journalists passed a strict selection and will be the roster of the potential finalists, expecting the three names will be unveiled on January 15, 2020. Nadal and Hosszu chosen by AIPS Europe journalists as best in Europe
For the second time in his career, RAFAEL NADAL - one of greatest tennis players of all times was chosen as the European Sportsman of the Year by journalists from 43 AIPS Europe national associations. Nadal already won this honor in 2008 and this year’s success reflects the potential of this leading figure in the world of sport . KATINKA HOSSZU , the Hungarian queen of swimming, for the third time in four years was chosen as the 2019 European Sportswoman of the Year. Hosszu was already a winner in 2016 and 2017 . Rafael Nadal was followed by Cristiano Ronaldo (Juventus f.c and Portugal) and F1 champion Lewis Hamilton. Katinka Hosszu was followed by Italian Biathlon ace Dorothea Wierer and Dina Asher Smith of Great Britian athletics.
