Fair play and humanity take centre stage during Valletta vs Tarxien Rainbows Encounter
This quarterly award, presented by the Malta Sports Journalists Association (MSJA) and the Malta Fair Play Movement, in collaboration with Together Gaming Solutions, is awarded to sporting individuals or teams who have distinguished themselves through an altruistic gesture of fair play during official and/or unofficial competitions.
The act of Fair Play was awarded on the 8th of March during the Yohealth Malta Premier 2025/26 match between Valletta and Tarxien Rainbows. In the 78th minute, Tarxien Rainbows player Da Silva Rosa went down with what appeared to be a serious injury, prompting immediate concern across the pitch. In an outstanding display of sportsmanship, Valletta FC’s club doctor, Dr Pierre Farrugia, reacted without hesitation, sprinting onto the field to provide urgent medical assistance to an opposing player in distress.
Dr Farrugia’s response was instinctive, immediate, and deeply human. At a time when football can often be dominated by rivalry and pressure, his actions served as a powerful reminder of the true values of sport, respect, empathy, and solidarity.

Players, officials, and supporters alike witnessed a moment where humanity rose above competition, reinforcing the importance of care and responsibility within the game.
This act stands as a strong example of the spirit of fair play, offering a powerful message that goes beyond the result and resonates across the wider sporting community.
A true embodiment of fair play, Dr. Pierre Farrugia reminded us that humanity should always comes before any sports rivalry said Edward Licari, Director of Together Gaming Solutions.

The TGS Malta Fair Play Award was presented by Office & HR Manager Andrea Critien at their offices in St. Julian’s. The Malta Sports Journalists Association was represented by Vice President Paul Cachia and Malta Fair Play Movement Chairman Charles Camenzuli.
