The traditional Boxing Day football tournament organised by the Malta Sports Journalists Association (MSJA) raised €1,500 in aid of l-Istrina. This year’s edition was held at the Victor Tedesco Stadium and featured the newly formed TEAMmt, made up of TV and media personalities who emerged as overall winners, defeating all their opponents.

Captained by Malta Eurovision Song Contest singer Fabrizio Faniello, TEAMmt won all three of their matches, including a convincing 3–0 victory in the final against a team
composed of Members of Parliament. The other two participating sides — the Malta Sports Journalists Association (MSJA) and the Malta Football Referees Association (MFRA) — who had both suffered defeats against TEAMmt and the Members of Parliament, shared an entertaining 5–5 draw in their final encounter.

H.E. President Myriam Spiteri Debono paid a visit to officially kick off the tournament and warmly welcomed the initiative, which has been organised by the MSJA since 1975.
The President highlighted the strong symbolism of the event, noting how two important pillars of society — Members of Parliament and journalists — came together alongside
referees and media personalities to raise funds for a noble cause. She praised the tournament’s long-standing tradition and its continued contribution to social solidarity
through sport.

MSJA president Antvin Monseigneur described the tournament as one of the association’s most eagerly anticipated events, bringing together people from different walks of life. He thanked all participants for their contribution and expressed confidence that the event will continue to grow in the years ahead.
