Gesred Borg receives the second TGS Fair Play Award for 2025

Gesred Borg is the winner of the TGS Malta Fair Play Award covering April to June 2025.

This quarterly award, handed out by the Malta Sports Journalists Association and the Malta Fair Play Movement in collaboration with Together Gaming Solutions, is aimed at sporting individuals or teams who would have distinguished themselves with an altruistic gesture of fair play during official and/or non-official competitions.

During the International Tour ta’ Malta, held between 24th and 27th April 2025, Gesred Borg, a dedicated and accomplished Masters cyclist with Team Greens, demonstrated an outstanding act of sportsmanship and generosity.

During the second stage, the challenging San Martin course, Gesred remained with the race leaders and was on track for a strong stage finish. However, on the penultimate lap up the steep San Martin climb, he witnessed a mechanical failure suffered by his teammate, Joaquin Rojas, who at the time was in second place in the general classification. Joaquin’s rear derailleur broke, rendering his bike unusable.

Without hesitation, Gesred stopped mid-race and selflessly offered his own bike to Joaquin, allowing him to continue and defend his position in the Tour. This extraordinary gesture meant that Gesred sacrificed his own chances of achieving a personal result, despite having trained so hard, to support his teammate, who ultimately finished on the podium.

This act reflects the true spirit of cycling and sportsmanship.

“An act of sportsmanship that deserves loads of applauds and recognition. A true gentleman of high ethical values. Well done to Gesred,” said Edward Licari, Director of Together Gaming Solutions.

The presentation of the TGS Malta Fair Play Award was hosted by Edward Licari, Director of Together Gaming Solutions, at their offices in St. Julian’s. Charles Camenzuli was present on behalf of the Malta Fair Play Movement, while Lorraine Cunningha, (MSJA General Secretary) represented the Malta Sports Journalists Association.

Members of the public, teams, or officials can notify the Malta Sports Journalists Association and the Malta Fair Play Movement of any fair play gesture by contacting them at info@maltasportsjournalists.com for consideration.

Gesred Borg jirċievi t-tieni TGS Fair Play Award għas-sena 2025

Gesred Borg huwa r-rebbieħ tat-TGS Fair Play Award li jkopri l-perjodu bejn April u Ġunju 2025.

Dan il-premju ta’ kull tliet xhur huwa mogħti mill-Għaqda Ġurnalisti Sport flimkien mal-Malta Fair Play Movement, b’kollaborazzjoni ma’ Together Gaming Solutions. Dan il-premju huwa intiż għal dawk fil-qasam tal-isport kemm fuq livell individwali jew bħala tim għall-ġest altruwistiku ta’ fair play f’kompetizzjoni/ijiet uffiċjali jew le.

Waqt it-Tour ta’ Malta li sar bejn l-24 u s-27 ta’ April 2025, Gesred Borg, ċiklist dedikat u ta’ suċċess fil-kategorija Masters ma’ Team Greens, wera ġest kbir ta’ sportività u ġenerożità.

Waqt it-tieni stadju, fil-perkors diffiċli ta’ San Martin, Gesred kien qed iżomm postu fuq quddiem tat-tiġrija b’ċans kbir li jkollu tmiem mill-aqwa. Għaldaqstant fid-dawra ta’ qabel tal-aħħar fit-telgħa wieqfa ta’ San Martin, huwa ra lil sieħbu Joaquin Rojas, li kien jinsab fit-tieni post fil-klassifika ġenerali, bi problemi fuq wara tar-rota u li ma kinitx tinstaq aktar.

Minnufih Gesred waqaf f’nofs it-tellieqa u kien pront li ta r-rota tiegħu lil Joaquin ħalli jkun jista’ jkompli u jiddefendi postu fit-Tour ta’ Malta. B’dan il-ġest straordinarju Gesred issagrifika ċ-ċans li kellu biex jikseb riżultat personali, minkejja li kien tħarreġ ferm, sabiex sieħbu fit-tim eventwalment sab postu fuq il-podju.

Ġest li juri l-aqwa valuri fiċ-ċikliżmu u fl-isport in ġenerali.

Min-naħa tiegħu, Edward Licari Direttur ta' Together Gaming Solutions qal, "Dan huwa ġest ta' sportività li ħaqqu jkun imfaħħar u rikonoxxut. Tassew li f'dak li għamel jispikkaw l-irġulija u l-ogħla valuri etiċi. Prosit Gesred!"

Il-preżentazzjoni tat-Fair Play Award saret fl-uffiċini ta’ Together Gaming Solutions, fil-preżenza ta’ Edward Licari Direttur ta’ Together Gaming Solutions, Charles Camenzuli f’isem il-Malta Fair Play Movement, filwaqt li għall-Għaqda Ġurnalisti Sport kien hemm is-Segretarju Ġenerali Lorraine Cunningham.

Individwi, timijiet, jew uffiċjali jistgħu jikkomunikaw mal-Għaqda Ġurnalisti Sport u mal-Malta Fair Play Movement biex jirrapurtawlhom att ta’ fair play billi jibagħtu email fuq info@maltasportsjournalists.com, sabiex dan il-ġest ikun ikkunsidrat.
